Class Schedules
All schedules are tentative. We may add/ delete class days/times dependent on enrollment. We make every effort to offer flexible options in our scheduling. Should a class be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment TMB will do our best to place students in appropriate alternate classes. Enrollment in a class is first come, first served with paid tuition/registration fee. A class must have a minimum of 5 students to be offered.
Snow or Bad Weather
Please check email and social media for notices on class cancellations. TMB reserves the right to cancel classes at our discretion; we do not always follow the school schedule with regards to closings. We will not put any child in danger due to weather. Any classes that are missed or cancelled can be made-up by attending another class close to the same level. There are no refunds for classes cancelled due to weather.
Breaks/Dates
Classes begin Monday September 11th, 2023. The studio will be closed for the following Holidays: Columbus Day (Oct. 10th), Halloween (Oct. 31st), Veteran’s Day (Nov. 11) Thanksgiving (Nov. 22-26), Holiday Break (Dec. 22nd-Jan 2), MLK Day (Jan 15th) Winter Break (Feb. 19-24), Spring Break (Apr. 22- Apr. 26) and Memorial Day (May 27).
Attendance and Tardiness
Classes start at the scheduled time. Promptness is expected. Students coming in late cause too much distraction, delay, and will not be properly warmed-up for class. Good attendance is imperative, as absences and tardiness can hold back an entire class; and the studio cannot jeopardize its responsibilities to the rest of the class for one student. Please make every effort to attend every class. Missed classes may not be deducted from tuition payments. If for any reason your child cannot attend class, they are encouraged to attend a make-up class within the month.
Dropping off and picking up dancers
Parents are required to drop their child off for dance class. Our staff will meet young dancers at the door approximately 5 mins before class. Please be on time to pick up your child after class. Our lobby is currently limited to dancers. The studio desk is open for any studio business between the hours of 4:30-6:30. Parents that need assistance may need to wait while we attend to our younger dancers pick-ups and drop offs.
Private Lessons
Privates and semi-privates are a privilege and must be approved by the director. Students interested in private lessons should fill out an interest request form over the summer. Private and Semi-private lessons will be scheduled directly through the instructors. Lessons are available on a weekly or bi-weekly schedule. Instructors MUST receive 24 hour notice for cancellation of a private lesson. If adequate notice is not received, you will be charged for the missed lesson. Private and semi-private lessons are to be paid in advance or at the time of the lesson. NO Exceptions will be made, and we do NOT bill for privates. If a student cannot attend regularly scheduled technique classes on the day of their private lesson than the private lesson is also cancelled.
Communicating with Instructors
We work very hard to keep you informed by email, social media, and by updating our website. However, it is your responsibility to keep up to date by reading e-mails, checking the website or social media channels. If you have a question about the dance studio please do not ask instructors during or in-between classes. If you need to talk personally to an instructor please schedule an appointment with the front desk so that the instructors can give you their full attention.
Year End Performance Dates/Times, 2024
The dates for our annual Performance/Rehearsals are June 5,6,7 (rehearsals) & 8 (show day) 2024 at the SRC Arena. The dress rehearsal is mandatory for anyone wanting to perform in the recital. (Dancers who do not attend their designated dress rehearsals WILL NOT be allowed to perform in the recital.) Recital tickets will be available for purchase one month before the recital.
Recital Costumes COSTUME DEPOSITS ARE DUE by DEC. 16, 2024
Performance costumes will range from $60 to $85 per costume. Combo classes will only need to purchase one costume. Please know we work hard to find good quality costumes at reasonable prices. If a dancer is in more than one class he or she will need to purchase additional costumes. The costume deposit is due in December so that costumes can be ordered on time. Once costumes are ordered there are no refunds. Any alterations needed are the parent’s responsibility. All tuition accounts must be up to date to order/receive costumes. Costumes ARE NOT ordered until deposits are received.
Studio Photos
Class photographs will be taken in the spring on an assigned picture day. If there is a problem with your picture order please contact the photographer directly, not The Movement Box.
Videotaping during Show and Dress Rehearsal
Videotaping during our recital or rehearsal is not allowed. The recital will be taped using professional equipment, and digital copies will be available at reasonable prices. There is a great deal of editing involved for our digital orders. Please allow 4 weeks or more for delivery of content.
PLACEMENT:
All competition team, company level, group placements are determined by the studio director and instructors. PLEASE NOTE: Your dancer may stay in the same level for multiple years. We may move students dependent on aptitude, execution, maturity, focus, effort, ability and technical skills. Age is not the sole factor in determining placement in any of our classes, company classes, or competition team.
Booster Club/Fundraising
The Movement Box does have a booster club for all families looking to help defer dance costs and contribute to the studio at large. Periodic Fundraising is available to everyone at the studio.
Late fees and Returned Checks
There is a $10 late fee for ALL late tuition payments. This will added to each invoice every month until the account is paid in full. If the total bill is not paid by date set, the dancer will be asked to sit out of class. All fees must be paid in full before the recital or the student will not be able to participate. Invoices are sent electronically via e-mail once a month. If you desire a printed statement of your account, or invoice please let us know. There are no refunds for missed classes or cancelled classes. You are encouraged to attend one of many make-up classes. There is a $25 fee for ALL returned checks.
Tuition/Registration
The registration fee for new students is $20. The registration fee for returning students is $15. Payments are broken up into 8.5 monthly payments for your convenience. Tuition is due on the 15th of each month. Tuition is non-refundable and is paid to save your child’s place in class. If your child has decided to stop attending class you must provide us with written notification. If we are not contacted, we will continue to bill you for saving your child’s place in class. There are several payment options:
- Cash, Check, Cashier’s Check or Money Order payable to “The Movement Box”
- Online via Credit or Debit card by logging into your account and making a one-time payment.
- Recurring payment via credit or debit card on file.
- All payments can also be made with Casey at the front desk.
o To prevent late fees you may elect to use our Recurring Payment system. This system is manually activated once a month. When activated all Recurring Payment accounts will bill the credit/debit card “on file” for the tuition balance due on the account. This system does not automatically bill a set amount, so there is no risk of the system billing you for charges that you did not incur. Again, you are only billed through the Recurring Payment system if your account has a positive balance.
o Please note: Simply entering your credit card information does NOT activate a monthly recurring payment option on your account. The “Enroll in AutoPay” button MUST be selected in order to be activated. If you do not receive confirmation and believe you selected our autopay plan, feel free to contact The Movement Box for assistance or view/adjust your account online.
